Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms, with over 1.3 million people using the app daily. That’s a lot of people! With the number of people going on the app increasing rapidly, Instagram has also undergone massive changes and updates. There have been various changes made to the algorithm and the user interface.

In October 2021, there was a significant update where Instagram added in many new features. One of the more popular ones we can list off the top of our heads is combining IGTVs and the feed into one format. They’ve also said that the recommended amount of hashtags is 3-5 per post.

The latest update Instagram has pushed out was at the end of 2021. Scroll down to learn about the update and also possible upcoming

Text To Speech feature on Instagram Reels

If you don’t know what text to speech is, it converts text into sounds resembling a human voice. We’ve seen this being used in TikTok all the time, but it’s the first time Instagram has implemented this feature. An auto-generated agent will read any text aloud for the viewer. Currently, creators have the choice to choose between 2 different voices.

Voice Effects for Reels

This allows you to modify your voiceover in a Reel. There are multiple voice effects such as helium, giant, vocalist, robot and more. It is a quirky way for people to present themselves or entertain viewers on reels.

Chronological Feeds for Users

This is a possible feature that Instagram could implement chronological feeds for their users. Users from day one will remember this. Basically, instead of Instagram’s algorithm promoting specific posts based on a user’s preference, it shows posts based on the order they were posted initially.

Changes made to the Algorithm

Instagram has made some changes to its algorithm. They’ve also become a lot more transparent about how their algorithm works. To gain more exposure and stand out, it is advised to use Reels more often and fewer hashtags. Video’s and short-form content are more popular than ever, and now is the perfect time to make use of it.

Instagram Live Badges

Instagram is adding live badges for content creators. This is currently being implemented only for U.S creators at the moment. Viewers can purchase badges from their favorite content creators or influencers. Viewers who pay for badges will even get added benefits, such as being extra visible during Instagram Live.

However, specific guidelines need to be met before content creators can use these stickers. They need to have at least 10,000 followers, must have a business account and needs to be over the age of 18.

Instagram is an entertaining tool to grow and engage with your audience. However, it can be complicated to manage. Growing an audience isn’t exactly the easiest thing on earth. Most of the time, the reason why an Instagram page isn’t growing might have something to do with your consistency on the channel. Or you may not be maximising Instagram’s features. Or it might even be because your content is boring.
